My life in Modena (III)

Now three weeks have passed, sono qui da 3 settimane, e lavorato tutta la settimana scorsa. Today is Italian's liberation day, I biked to the town, and walked into the parade and piazza concert by locals. I walked behind the orchestra group, feeling myself one of the Italians, with proudness and happiness. People loitered on the streets and piazzas, having chats, drinking espresso, or eating gelati. It was a relaxed sunny afternoon. I stared at the gargoyles on the wall of the cathedral, which was built 1000 years ago, and saw the happiness and cuteness in their face. I passed several statues, but all looked like Dante to me.

My life in Modena (II)

I start to work in this week, and have not much activities in Modena, but I start to cook with simple materials, serving dishes like fried eggs and fried noodles.

In the beginning of the week, I had a short trip to Rome.

At the end of the week, I traveled to Munich to visit my former supervisor. I had a sentimental walk to the Olympia park and the Institute where I once spent 3 years. I also tried the Bavarian dish of Schweinshaxe (at Ayinger Bräustüberl out of München) and Weisswurst (at München Hbf), though they tasted not as well as before. In the place of Octoberfest, there was a spring festival, and we went to a flea market nearby, seeing some weird and familiar objectives. I also visited a new museum named Bradhost, where an exhibition of paintings from the rebellion generation was going on, but I couldn't appreciate these arts. For more fun, I even learnt to cook Spanish Paella from my supervisor's wife. It's the first time I took the daytime train, so I could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Northern Italy and Western Austria.
